So, out of some strange conversation, perhaps to prove ourselves to each other, myself and my two roommates decided that we would order a week's worth of soylent and attempt to eat nothing but soylent for a week. We set ourselves some farily strict rules:
- We would only allow ourselves soylent, water, seltzer, black coffee, and unsweetened tea during this week.
- You could flavor your soylent with whatever you wanted, so long as it didn't contain any significant nutrition. So things like vanilla extract and cocoa powder are fine, but things like chocolate syrup are out of the question.
- We would also not add any sweeteners, artificial or otherwise.
- We would not consume any alcohol.
I'm writing today on day two of my soylent only diet, and it's actually going surprisingly well thus far. It took a little getting used to, but it's actually pretty good. I don't feel hungry, I'm not craving, and I have plenty of energy. The worst mistake I've made thus far was mixing the first glass with peppermint extract.... It was like drinking toothpaste, and I couldn't actually finish it.
One of my roommates didn't handle it so well. He lasted through a glass and a half before he gave up, with 6 days worth of soylent left. We will see how the week progresses.
